This book provides the most thoroughgoing analysis of the law of nuisance - private, public and statutory - since 1996. Beyond supplying an authoritative guide to the law, it explores the many juristic and historic misunderstandings and missteps that have occurred in connection with nuisance law with a view to supplying a rich, historically-grounded account. There is also a normative element. Rejecting popular simplistic explanations, the book suggests better ways of understanding the complex juridical relations between private nuisance on the one hand, and the Human Rights Act, public nuisance, and the rule in Rylands v Fletcher on the other.
