Additional information

This study presented a novel method for seawater softening using FO process. It is first time that FO process was suggested for seawater softening. The study was collaboration between the UWS, the Suez University in Egypt, and the Institute of Materials and Engineering in Tunisia. A computational model was presented in this study to estimate the performance of the FO process. The FO model was coupled with a pre-developed model for the design of thermal desalination processes and scale deposition on the heat exchangers was estimated using CO2 gas release model. The model also predicted the thickness of the scale layer on the heat exchangers. The published work was rated as a high impact study the desalination journal.
