Additional information

The first published study of this kind on the effect of rail roll in vehicle dynamics simulations and wheel-rail contact prediction. Cited twice in state-of-the-art review papers in Vehicle System Dynamics by Evans (2009), "Challenges in simulation of rail vehicle dynamics" and by Prof. Bruni et al. (2011), "Modelling of suspension components in a rail vehicle dynamics context". It has highlighted the necessity to consider the roll degree of freedom and restraint level of the rail in order to predict with accuracy the contact condition for example for derailment cases investigation purposes.
