Additional information

This research proposed the use of 3D Fourier transform for analysing a stack of fringe pattern images (video images form robot vision systems), which were previously analysed image by image using the 2D Fourier transform. The results show that 3D Fourier produces very close results to the 2D case. However, this method produces a 3D wrapped phase volumes rather than a discrete 2D wrapped phase images. 3D wrapped phase volumes provide more unwrapping paths than the 2D case and therefore produce much better result. The impact of the work is evidenced by wide citation nationally and internationally.
