Double negative elastic metamaterial design through electrical-mechanical circuit analogies
One IEEE Transactions reviewer commented that “The paper addresses a very important problem of metamaterial design using electrical-mechanical circuit analogies for the design of a simultaneously double negative elastic metamaterial”. The methodology for the design of active metamaterials supported by EPSRC research grant (£94k-EP/J003816/1), led to the development of this passive design with simultaneously negative parameters. The proposed material with a broadband negative refractive index provides an alternative design for creating a superlens, which would have applications in medical imaging and manufacturing http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn13156-acoustic-superlens-could-mean-finer-ultrasound-scans.html#.UmeryxAwL38.
