Additional information

Image based measurement has dominated geotechnical physical modelling since the development of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) (GeoPIV) in 2002. Parallel advances in internal visualisation using transparent soil (TS) are revolutionising understanding of complex soil-structure interactions; however, extracting high quality data is problematic. In this paper a new correction framework is developed overcoming this. Although developed for TS, translation to routine plane strain PIV applications using GeoPIV is being implemented (through subsequent collaboration with Prof. Andy Take co-author of GeoPIV) which will increase scope/uptake of the new correction framework. Open access programme files are provided to enable impact.
