Additional information

We propose a widely-applicable approach for solute transport modelling, based on the Residence Time Distribution (RTD). RTDs provide an extremely elegant, accurate and scalable model of solute transport processes. DHI (Ole Mark, Head of R&D, omj@dhigroup.com) are considering implementing this new, efficient, modelling approach into their software. This will ultimately enable drainage engineers to minimise pollution risks and meet the requirements of the EU Water Framework Directive through better-informed sewer design.
