Additional information

A systematic error estimator is developed that makes full use of the discontinuous shape functions used to simulate crack propagation. This has opened up a whole new range of applications of both error estimation and fracture simulations, and thus bridges an existing gap between computational mechanics and fracture mechanics. The work has attracted the attention of leading international researchers, such as G.R. Liu and S.P.A. Bordas.
