Additional information
This novel study has laid the foundation for the quantitative and innovative application of a modern colour digital camera for combustion monitoring and diagnostics in a real combustor. It has been used in assisting Rolls Royce (contact details available) identify hidden flames, and can also detect nonlinear flame and acoustic wave coupling. The methodology secured the funding of an EPSRC grant for Sheffield (EP/G063044/1 - £517,239) and a further collaborative grant with Lancaster University (EP/K036750/1 - £487,000).
