Double-weighted statement

This 110,000-word (320 pages) book is the product of 7 years research, including a semester of AHRC funded research leave. It occupied 70% of Coffey's research time in the REF period. Three features set it apart: (i) Chronological scope: it ranges from the Reformation to the Civil Rights Movement; ii) Geographical range: it extends across the English-speaking world; (ii) Source base: it exploits over forty periodicals, hundreds of pamphlets, sermons and speeches, as well as songs, poetry, and iconography. This lengthy data collection enabled critical insight into major themes in the history of race and religion in America since 1600.
