Additional information

In collaboration with Mott MacDonald and Access Design and Engineering, the aim of this paper is to characterise moment-rotation response of beam-to-column joints for pultruded Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) members through physical testing. The main factor preventing construction industry from using FRP as a mainstream construction material has been lack of agreed design codes. This paper focuses on preparation of design guidelines, by developing serviceability deflection limits, for web-cleated joints of pultruded members using steel web cleats. With lower ecological impact of FRP, this research will promote its use and help minimise carbon footprint of the construction industry.
