This multi-authored paper was a major output from the EPSRC-funded SWARD Project on Sustainability and Asset Management Decisions for the Water Industry. Jowitt contributed the Multi-Criteria Assessment and Decision Mapping methodologies. The Paper was awarded the 2008 International Water Association (IWA) biennial prize for Research Excellence in Support of Sustainable Urban Water Management. The impact of the research on the water industry is evident in the shift in priorities on capital investment programmes, adoption of sustainability practices and on UK water policy and legislation.
