Additional information

Today’s transport system places unsustainable demands on finite resources; therefore, a change in strategy is required with a focus on efficiency and novel vehicle technologies and fuels.

Any future transport system must be sustainable, affordable and maintain an acceptable level of utility. This study demonstrates a framework which evaluates transport choices and provides an integrated comparison of both fuel and vehicle technology combinations for cost, energy and GHG emissions throughout a vehicle’s lifetime. This framework is seminal in providing the underpinning analysis required by transport and energy analysts and strategists. The framework has been evaluated by The Carbon Trust, VCA, BP and presented to the DfT in October.
