Satire and the politics of corruption in Kenya
This paper was co-authored with Ambreena Manji on a 50/50 basis. The paper’s conception drew upon John’s law and rhetoric research, Ambreena’s law and literature research and combined research on law and governance in East Africa. The introduction, the framing of the paper in relation to anti-corruption governance (pt 2), the critique of anti-corruption discourse in terms of primitive accumulation and excremental satire (pt. 5) and conclusion (pt.6) were jointly conceived, researched and written. John developed the analysis of anti-corruption discourse as satire (pt. 3) independently, as did Ambreena in respect of the legal profession in irregular land allocation (pt.4).
