Turbulence exists in many engineering applications and is one of the unsolved mysteries in nature. This paper combines detailed flow information, obtained from the state-of-the-art numerical methods, with analytical tools to tackle the mechanisms of turbulent flow, which led to a better understanding of flow breakdown to turbulence.
