Double-weighted statement

News Talk should be double-weighted as it contains ethnographic research undertaken over a period of more than 10 years from which several discrete analytical chapters derived (chapters 4-9). Additionally, the 280-page book charts new ground in the field of language and media (as developed in chapters 1-3 and 10) by prioritizing and developing the ethnographic approach to the analysis of linguistic data (news stories, journalistic practice routines, audience design) and interactional patterns within the group and with the public. Fieldwork, of necessity a real-time and hence somewhat slow process, is the basis of this.
