A Case of Study for 3D Stereoscopic Conversion in Visual Effects Industry.
The purpose of this research topic is to cover a series of processes of 3D stereoscopic conversion for feature films. Furthermore, it clarified a process of stereoscopic conversion in production as well as provided a clear idea for entry-level artists and HEI sectors that want to improve an overall understanding of 3D stereoscopic in digital compositing and inspire further collaboration between academia and industry.
The paper is based on an enhanced understanding of existing stereoscopic theories. All related in-house scripts and conversion workflow mentioned in the paper were used in a number of real commercial stereoscopic conversion film projects, such as Harry Porter 7 (2011), Wrath of the Titans (2012), John Carter (2012).
This peer-reviewed research paper revealed a number of key factors, which previously had not been explored from the visual effects industry. The paper has also been presented at the ICCGV 2013: International Conference on Computer Graphics and Vision, Zurich, Switzerland.
