Phosphorescent, Terdentate, Liquid-Crystalline Complexes of Platinum(II): Stimulus-Dependent Emission
There is a huge international effort to design and optimise materials for organic light emitting diodes (OLED) for flat-panel displays and lighting applications. This paper reports a new class of OLED materials which are both phosphorescent and liquid crystalline. Such unique combination of properties allows the manipulation of the luminescence colour by changing the morphology of the thin-films. The work was carried out in collaboration with CNRS at Strasbourg and supported by a European Commission Marie Curie Incoming Fellowship (007541-Heterolics). The results were patented (EP 2207784A1, US8293898B2).
