Additional information

<15> The Internet of Things has already made an impact on many domains through new solutions and ideas, particularly in waste management and recycling. The UK produces 1Mt/year of plasterboard waste; only 7% is recycled. A smart waste management application has been developed, based on a case-study of a local recycling company and provides full logistical records for plasterboard waste transportation for recycling. This has a major impact on the environment and carbon footprint, and led to work by the authors on smart patient tracking systems trialled in an NHS hospital, and 8 conference papers on using this technology.
