Additional information

This paper introduced a new process to trap and release 11CO, allowing easy and efficient introduction of 11C into new tracers. Currently, complex synthesis can limit accessibility to PET tracers but this technology has the advantage of incorporation into a microfluidic platform adaptable for disposable cassettes for radiotracer synthesis, allowing more widespread use potentially resolving MHRA/FDA concerns around the on-site manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals. We have further translated this technology to label important PET probes e.g. 11C-labelled neuropeptide Y5 [Kealey, Org Biomol Chem, 2011] within a microfluid system and applied this for optimising dosing of anti-obesity therapeutics at the Y5 receptor.
