Additional information

This paper presents a novel algorithm for the visualization of delayed enhancement magnetic resonance images taken from patients following radiofrequency ablation for the treatment of atrial fibrillation. The algorithm allowed for the first time for clinicians to interpret the tissue damage caused by ablation treatments in a completely intuitive way. Subsequently, the algorithm has been used at multiple international centres for the visualization and quantification of atrial fibrosis, resulting in further publications [Arujuna, Circ Arrhythm Electrophysiol, 2012] that have furthered the understanding of the mechanisms of atrial fibrillation and its treatment via ablation therapy.
