Additional information

<22> This paper arose from a long-standing international collaboration with Aalto University, Helsinki, funded by the Academy of Finland. This is the first computer model of the role of spatial hearing in speech perception that includes an automatic speech recognizer, thus allowing human and machine performance to be compared on the same listening test. The paper has led to a funded EC project (Two!Ears, FP7-ICT/618075), which will focus on spatial hearing technology for robotics and sound field evaluation.
