<22>Improving access to geo-referenced information for visually impaired (VI) people requires exploring modalities other than maps, which are inaccessible. This is the first work that focuses on improving access to geo-referenced data for VI users integrating NLG and geo-spatial data analysis from a GIS environment. This paper builds on the full conference paper: Sripada and Thomas, “What’s in a message? Interpreting Geo-referenced Data for the Visually-Impaired”, in Proceedings of the Fifth International Natural Language Generation Conference, pp. 113-120, 2008.
