Additional information

A number of mobile-phone based systems to support the self-management of chronic diseases such as diabetes have been described in the literature in the last decade, but few have been properly evaluated by clinical trials. Prof. Tarassenko’s research is unique in that the mobile-phone based technology his group has designed has now been tested in 20 clinical trials. The technology and algorithms described in this paper now form the basis of the system for managing gestational diabetes in the local NHS Trust, selected as a Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) project for the Trust for 2012 and 2013.
