Additional information

The labour for this co-authored book was split 50:50, our respective research specialisms combining to provide a much longer perspective than is usual in approaches to modern religious traditions. We took joint responsibility for the pedagogical approach, the framing chapters, 1 and 12, and all chapter revisions. Hirst took lead responsibility for Part I, chapters 3-7A and 10 (in 10 reflecting her research on modern gendered narratives), the longue durée and the gender twists. Zavos took lead responsibility for Part II, chapters 2 and 7B-11 (in 10 drawing on his research on colonial relationships), the modern period and politics.
