Double-weighted statement

The core argument of this book is developed from a corpus of around 200 films as well as film theories and reviews, many of which were only accessible in German archives. Its main focus are close analyses of 16 medieval films, many defined and interpreted as such, for the first time. The volume makes a broader case about medieval film being its own genre identifying sets of structural as well as thematic concerns and making an innovative contribution to genre theory.
