Additional information

This article appears in a special edition of Studies in Theatre and Performance, edited and introduced by Goldingay and Mick Mangan. This special edition was one of the outcomes of the AHRC-funded project “Plethora and Bare Sufficiency” which itself was the result of a research collaboration between Goldingay, Howard Barker and Mangan. The project generated an academic symposium, organised by Goldingay and Mangan, which informed both the structure and the content of this journal special edition; several of the articles which appear here were delivered in earlier forms at that symposium.

The research dimension which informs this output thus includes (a) the original creation of the symposium network and (b) significant editorial input, both into individual articles and into the composition of the special edition as a coherent whole, as well as (c) the researching and writing of the article itself.
