Additional information

This paper introduced the world's first specifically designed wearable antenna structure for on-body communications. The new antenna concept features enhanced surface wave propagation to give superior on-body performance and UWB bandwidths (24%). The paper also demonstrates that even a two-branch diversity system would offer significant performance advantage in practical situations (e.g. for professional first-responder type application). The work described in this paper led to the invitation to be the keynote speaker at 5th Intl. Conf. Body Area Networks (Bodynets) 2010.
