An algorithm to study non-stationary random vibrations of vehicle-bridge systems
Fast accurate solutions are obtained for non-stationary random vibration of a train crossing a bridge with an uneven surface, a coupled problem with no previous practical solutions. The work was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, forming part of our long-term collaboration with Dalian University of Technology. The underlying Pseudo-Excitation method merits a whole chapter in the definitive reference “Vibration and Shock Handbook" (CRC, 2005, ISBN 978-0849315800). The method plays an important role in the development of the Chinese high-speed rail industry, including ride-comfort analysis of Shanghai maglev trains (Procedia Engineering 14(2011):2453-2458, doi: 10.1016/j.proeng.2011.07.308).
