SIGNIFICANCE

This book is based on the international conference Human Habitation: Architecture, Settlement and Cultural Identity in the Persian Gulf Region, co-organised by Fraser and Golzari, and sponsored by the University of Westminster and UN-Habitat (RIBA, October 2008). Fraser's research component for this book was presented at an invited discussion about Middle Eastern architecture and urbanism at the RIBA for the Shubbak International Conference in London in July 2011, and then as a keynote speech at the 'Architecture, European Urbanization and Globalization' Conference at the University of Luxembourg in February 2012.
