Additional information

In engineering, the study of wave propagation through a turbulent medium is of huge significance. This paper provides a unified treatment of the random electromagnetic fields in propagation through any optical system and has extended the understanding of the interaction between light and diffusers (DOI: 10.1364/OL.36004719; DOI:10.1063/1.3259824). This work has led to an invited talk at the 9th international conference on Correlation Optics (http://www.itf.cv.ua/corropt09/Data.files/program.pdf). Through an industrial case study support by SUPA START Award (SSG040, £5k), a diffuser screen has been developed by using the statistical model in this paper for 3D volumetric display system (Helson & Jackets, http://www.helsonandjackets.com/).
