Sansom initiated and led this project which encompassed research undertaken by Sansom's PhD student Northeast. Sansom wrote the paper during the year after his PhD completion. The low metallicities and alpha-to-iron abundance ratios found in this work, have since been used in the literature to compare with model predictions from varying the integrated initial mass function of stars in galaxies.
