Additional information

This research concerns harvesting energy from organic solar cells, made from blend of polymer (P3HT) and small molecule (PCBM), in our Thin Films Laboratory. The percentage loadings of small molecule incorporated in the blend can drastically affect the interfaces for charge transfer and affect the power conversion efficiency. This is the first time anyone has demonstrated that an optical-absorption study of the device can be used as a guide in controlling the cluster formation. Furthermore the nanostructuring of the device is very much dependent on thermal annealing process and above 423 K the power conversion efficiency starts to deteriorate.
