This research was conducted in partnership with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (rated in the top 150 of the world rankings) and is related to the theory of confined atoms and molecules. These are systems where the atoms or molecules are confined in some region of space and one application to electronics is in theory of quantum dots. This contribution shows how the Kummer functions can be used in this theory and it has led to further work including a paper which has now been submitted to Physical Review A.
