Flaggenkrieg am Badestrand. Lokale Möglichkeiten repräsentativer Mitgestaltung in der Weimarer Republik
This article looks at local and seemingly small-scale conflicts re republican symbols (conflicts on the display of flags, coat of arms but also conflicts re the topics of speeches at local republican festivities). The suggestion that the Weimar Germany was a republic without republican cannot be supported. Quite the opposite, it was through local signs and symbols that citizens found a way to publicly showing their support for Germany’s young democracy.
