This monograph (77,000 words) is based on a corpus of over 500 articles published in Spanish newspapers between 1997 and 2007 and which I collected, evaluated and classified over a 4-year period from 2004 to 2008. Approximately 200 of these articles were selected for close analysis in 3 main substantive chapters of c.15,000 words each. The theoretical foundation of the book draws on an extensive set of sources (approx. 200 references) in English and Spanish on language ideologies and critical discourse analysis.
