Building on collaborative work with BT, the first full demonstration of wavelength-converting long-reach optical access network consolidated deployed Passive Optical Networks (PON) into a long-reach, high-split ratio system which is now included in the recent ITU XG-PON G.987 standard. Work has led to an invited presentation at CERN. This led to participation in a highly rated (14/15) €3M EU collaborative project (IPHOBAC-NG) which has been funded to start in November 2013. Cited 34 times (GoogleScholar).
