Additional information

<20> This paper is derived from a larger study that formed the PhD thesis of Abdulrhman Alharbi (2013). The work from this paper continued in extending the multimodal metaphors by adding expressive avatars as part of the communication of feedback. The results indicated that complex feedback was better understood when delivered using multi modality and expressive avatars. A series of empirically derived guidelines for the use of these metaphors in communicating feedback was produced and published.
