Impact Factor: 4.2. In this work the first in-situ 3D X-ray microtomography observations of short crack propagation in Ti-6246 is achieved. The project collaborators; Rolls-Royce (david.rugg@rolls-royce.com) and Timet UK (Matthew.Thomas@Timet.com) and EPSRC funded this project. Detailed microstructure and microtexture interaction with crack path aspects were investigated. This work led to further consultancy work and research studies with Rolls Royce plc. The author was invited by the US Air Force Research Laboratory to present this work finding in titanium alloy at TMS 2012 conference in Orlando/USA and chair one of Ti session. The conclusions from this work were vital for safely issues in aerospace structures.
