Additional information

IF = 2.394. The paper represents the culmination of an extensive research collaboration with Rolls-Royce. The cold creep of Ti-834 is significant in the premature failure of critical gas turbine engine components. Previous attempts to alleviate this effect have concentrated on controlling crystallographic texture, adding cost and complexity to component manufacture. The paper presents the first recorded evidence of a reduction in cold creep rate achieved via application of prestrain. Crucially this was scaled to an industrial forming process, improving properties without added complexity and cost in the manufacturing route (steve.williams@rolls-royce.com).
