Additional information

This invention of a new method for a key step in making Dye-sensitised solar-cells is also subject to a world-wide patent (rodney.rice@tatasteel.com). The active Titania layer, applied as a paste, can be sintered in 12 seconds as opposed to 30 minutes at 500C. This enables fast production line speeds aswell as lower energy input for roll-to-roll manufacturing. The paper is the first of a number from a collaborative EPSRC project on flexible solar cells on metals with ICL and Bath (EPSRC EP-E35205 £307k) which led to the creation of the SPECIFIC Innovation and Knowledge Centre. (IF 7.7 and 12 citations).
