This paper builds on funded Doctoral research and publications reported in RAE2008. Publication of the work has led to collaborative bids with the Building Research Association of New Zealand and publication collaboration with Professor Kashawagi at Arizona State University. Building material suppliers (Marley Extrusions Ltd) were involved in the construction of the simulation model and the identification of critical Key Performance Indicators. This work has led them to review and adjust their operational processes. Researchers in Iran have used the work to inform their approaches to supply chain management. This work set the path for a number of succeeding publications.
