Additional information

The research, experimentally, considered the use of engineered timber members in fire resisting construction with limited size unprotected service penetrations in close proximity to these members. The potential for structural failure was identified and that the acceptability of these penetrations was solely found within the UK, with no scientific basis. This has led to further doctoral research in this area at Glasgow Caledonian University in Collaboration with the University of Edinburgh.
