The research reported in this paper will lead the way in developing an engineering methodology which will enable the production of environmentally acceptable solidified wastes thus, facilitating, the production of more economical building materials. The work was carried out by Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) and ESTP (Ecole Speciale des Travaux Public) in Paris. Most laboratory facilities were provided by Strathclyde University, from the “Glasgow University Research Partnership”. Funding was shared between GCU, ESTP and Geo-Products BV, Limburn, The Netherlands.
