Additional information

This study was carried out at the request of the NHSScotland Property and Environment Forum Executive (PEFEX). Energy targets and benchmarking in the healthcare sector were part of a drive towards sustainability, but there was a lack of data on targets or baselines, and so this work was instrumental in informing the PEFEX on this topic. Although specific to the Scottish sector, it has been cited outside the Scottish context. This study led to other environmental studies in the healthcare sector, for example, an EU-funded INTERREG project on disposal of pharmaceuticals http://www.nweurope.eu/index.php?act=project_detail&id=5315
