Work reported in the paper, part of one of several European projects on outdoor testing of building components, emphasised the importance of workshops, competitions and training to improve analysis skills for thermal performance evaluations. This one of the themes taken up by IEA Annex 58 with the objective of developing quality procedures for testing leading to better thermal performance analysis by developing the necessary knowledge, tools and networks to achieve reliable in situ dynamic testing and data analysis methods that can be used to characterise the actual energy performance of building components and whole buildings.
