Additional information

This paper proposes a new cooperative retransmission (CR) scheme based on network coding (NC) between network relays. The method significantly reduces the number of retransmitted packets over conventional relay methods, improves retransmission reliability, creates non-duplicated relay packet re-transmissions and produces a more power efficient relay transmission system. The paper also determines analytically an optimised number of relays to be used for the retransmission phase of lost or corrupted packets. The paper has produced further research collaboration with Middlesex University and has resulted in producing new solutions related to power efficiency for relay ARQ protocols (accepted for publication IET Communications 2014).
