Applications versus properties of Mg–Al layered double hydroxides provided by their syntheses methods: Alkoxide and alkoxide-free sol–gel syntheses and hydrothermal precipitation
The article is a continuation of the work which resulted in a novel material produced by a novel synthesis method. It explains the reason for the very high removal properties of the novel Mg-Al Layered Double Hydroxides (Mg-Al-LDH) (Chubar N., 2011) comparing it to the other two Mg-Al-LDHs prepared by different advanced methods (another novel Mg-Al-LDH by the authors and one commercial sample). A correlation between the synthesis method and properties was establish for the first time, by an extensive study undertaken by the authors of surface chemistry and porous structure, as well as adsorption of five toxic anions.
