This book - although relatively slim at 80,000 words - represents over one year's uninterrupted work with microfilmed collections from all of the counties in wartime Hungary, alongside additional research on wartime photographs, diaries and newspapers. The research necessitated examining the surviving archival trace from everywhere in the country in order to be able to position the exceptionality of certain traces in a book that offers methodological and conceptual innovation.
