Additional information

This chapter is a result of a multi-disciplinary EPSRC project across 4 discipline boundaries (Built Environment, Geography, Engineering and Economics). The project explored the vulnerability of the SE London Resilience Zone to extreme weather events and developed physical building adaptations to reduce adverse impacts. This output is drawn from Professor Jones’ work examining the factors that affect community resilience and, although the context was informed by the overarching project, the new theoretical model described in the chapter was drawn solely from Professor Jones’ work. The model has subsequently been used in a TSB Design for Future Climate Change project.
